The birth story of Kate

I had always been utterly terrified at the thought of giving birth. When I fell pregnant I planned to have a scheduled c-section. However my plans was scuppered when my obstetrician recommended I didn't have one due to my medical history. Serious panic set in and I eventually cast aside my enormous scepticism about hypnobirthing and gave it a go. It turned out to be the best decision ever! I went into my labour calm and confident. The birth itself, which took place in the very pleasant midwife-led suite (low lighting and my own cds) was a positive (albeit a very tiring) experience. Also, my husband knew what to do and say which really helped. Not only did hypnobirthing help before and during the labour, I think it really helped with coping with the madness of the early days after my daughter was born. From someone who was prepared to have surgery and wanted every medication available, I can now wholeheartedly recommend hypnobirthing.
